b&w 3

Image
I liked the images of people interacting and enjoying the animals. I liked that people were ignoring the camera. The thing that first caught my attention about these photos was the animals. I love animals and have always loved animals since I was little. This is the kind of photography i love. In the picture with the elephant, i feel excited that i can get a great photo of the public interacting with an elephant. I smell the animals around me and all of the people around. I hear all of the noise and conversations around me. I see an elephant interacting with a kid. I taste my eggs I had for breakfast. I am having a great day. I see the man cleaning the glass next to the whale. I feel sad that this animal is living in captivity in a small cage. I hear the loud filtration that is required to keep the tank clean. I smell the saltwater and the glass cleaner on the squeegee. I taste my peppermint in my mouth. I would like to show people the photos that this photographer takes by us...

Nick Brandt's New Approach To Photography

His new approach is to show how people ignore the damage they are dealing to animals. He uploaded images and had them sent to kenya, built the images and then waited for people to ignore them It shows us how ignorant people can be They make me mad that people can look at this as normal and not care about the animals.
“My images are my elegy to these beautiful creatures, to this wrenchingly beautiful world that steadily, tragically vanishing before our eyes.” ~Nick Brandt

Africa

Image
Nick Brandt is an amazing photographer that shoots his images in Africa. He uses the wildlife in the area to send a message. He uses black and white to give his photos a great effect. He shoots in the wild which means all of this is natural and not scripted. He is pretty awesome. I like this photo because of the pure beauty in the parade of elephants. This is an example of lines because the line of elephants makes your eyes follow the picture and understand the depth and beauty that lines can have in nature. Nick Brandt uses a standard lens for the photos so he can venture close to the animals and get a new perspective. He takes these photos to remind us of how we are destroying the world leaving nowhere for these animals to go.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

Image
a. Some main points that I read in the article is the debate on when a picture becomes unethical. There are many argues on opinions of when something crosses the line and becomes unethical. b. They are allowed to tone the image for accuracy as long as it doesn't alter the original scene. c. I think as long as you arent cropping or photoshopping people out of an image or giving someones body someone elses head than it is ok to manipulate. d. This is unethical due to the taking out of people and cropping people out. The editor also moved people closer to each other. He is pretending this was real but he actually combined photos and took the people with hijabs out. e. I dont think that this photo is very unethical. The editor just changed the contrast of the photo and changed some coloring. Its like a filter; just changes the coloring.

1. I like the concentration he has while pouring the two liquids together to make a new color. 2. Simplicity because the subject is clearly shown and made known. 1. I chose this photo because of the cool explosion of the paint in this girls face 2. Simplicity because the subject is known and the photographer makes it clear what the picture is about 3. In science classrooms 4. Any classrooms that are doing hands on experiments 5. Try and get the angle ready so that I have a perfect timed shot

Filling the frame

Image
This photo is filling the frame because the fire is perfectly in frame and in the shot. This photo was also taken at the perfect time. The lighting is great because of the light that the flame gave off. I also love that he is holding the fire.

action and emotion

Image
This is a good image of a group of high school kids playing a game.  I think that this is a good action shot because this photo was taken at the perfect time. It captures the joy in her face as she is launched into the air by the other students.

The Story

Image
I think that this picture tells the best story because of the background. The background tells me that they are somewhere tropical. They could be on a field trip discovering the possibilities of nature. I think that with enough thought, any picture can tell an amazing story.

Peer Reflection

Mathew's Blog 1.I like the lighting on the happy photo with the cloud 2. I also like that he looked to the sky for ideas 3. I dont like that he used a very similar photo for the metal subject as he did the happy subject. Nicks Photojournalism 1. I LOVE the photo of the plants next to the bikes, great image of lines 2.I also like the balance in the square in the ceiling photo 3. I dont like the bowie photo because i cant tell what the subject is...is it the dog or the people?

Post Shoot Reflection

1. It was hard finding pictures that were good representatives of the subjects because there were so many examples of the subjects around the school, which made picking one picture pretty difficult. 2. In the picture I captured of the bars in front of the courtyard, i had to make sure that the courtyard was in focus as a-pose to the bars. Keeping things in focus was probably the biggest issue along with lighting. 3. I would've searched for more examples of things such as framing and rules of thirds next time. 4. I would've still taken the picture of the courtyard because i liked the framing that the bars gave the subject. 5. No, it is hard to find just one good picture to pick out from all of those prompts.

Prompt Shoot #1

Image
I chose this photo to represent Bowie High School because the bars demonstrate depth and dimension. The depth that the bars give off make this an image of framing. This is a good representative for a square because it is a bunch of little squares inside of a big square. This image is an example of simplicity because the subject is clear of what the image is supposed to be about. This photo is clearly of a happy human, which makes this a good example of the subject "happy".  This image is simplicity because just like the previous photo, the subject is very clear. I chose this photo for the subject "metal" because it is a bunch of metal scraps that were once part of electronics. This is a merger because if you look at the coloring of the images, they tend to blend or "merge" together and look like they are one piece of metal.
